This is a great opportunity to finally get a ride in and have a common destination for both riders and drivers. If there is any interest in attending here please let me know ASAP so arrangements can be made. Also, there has been some interest in a 3 day ride to Mt Laurier for lunch where you can enjoy one of the finest Mtl Smoked meat sandwiches ever..several of us have been doing a twice annual pilgrimage to LaChaumier just to enjoy the sandwich and good company. If there is enough interest, we will start the planning... if interested LMK if you prefer the end of July or beginning of August.RSVP to bkontario8pres@gmail.com

Summer 2024 Member's message
Time to Ride 2024 Greetings everyone.I hope this email finds you well.June is here and I think everyone is now back on Canadian soil for the summer, everywhere is open and fully accessible. and we are hoping that you are ready to get some recreational riding/driving under your belts. The last few years resulted in very few rides and outings as a group. Let's make up for this in 2024. We understand that there are more and more of us that can no longer partake in a ride and would like to arrange some destination outings that will allow for both a ride and drive to one of Ontario's many fantastic locations for a get together.Derk Cropper is our Ride Captain and anyone who has been on one of his rides will agree that he does a fantastic job at planning and leading it. Let's give him a hand by giving him some great ideas for a day's outing. Also important are our Chapter meetings especially if life gets in the way of an outing but you can still meet to exchange some stories and ideas. Chapter. Perhaps we could look at early morning breakfast at the likes of the Cottage Canoe in Barrie (Great location, food and early bird discounts).Drop a line, text or email to any Board member and give us your thoughts. Don't forget our Chapter website at [[URL]]. Suggestions for content and pics are welcomed and encouraged. On behalf of the Board, Ride Captain and Safety Officer, I look forward to a great 2024 riding season.Phil
Christmas Message 2023
Christmas and Season’s Greetings to you all. This time of the year is the one time of every year when everyone can enjoy life and show their appreciation for everyone who is, or has been, in their lives. It’s the time where everywhere we go we can see uplifting scenes with beautiful decorations, and the sound of music that inspires us to be the best we can. There is no disputing that Christmas is the most important religious celebration in human history, and has endured for over two thousand years. But, Christmas has come to be more than a religious celebration, that is, the celebration of the birth of the Christian messiah; way more. Over the years, people from all over the world have come to see the Christmas season as a time to celebrate all things good about humanity. It’s a time when friends and past acquaintances get together for a fabulous meal. It’s a time when people will go out of their way to help a total stranger in need. It’s a time we tell others just how much they mean to us and others, and that they are appreciated. It’s a time we forgive people who have negatively impacted us or our loved ones. It’s a time when we make a total stranger happy just by giving them a smile and wish them all the best. If you believe in miracles, this is when they are most likely to happen; and they do happen. In today’s news (December 1st, 2023) I read about an event that rarely, if ever, happens. After a discussion paper authored by a member of the CHRC declared that Christmas was a discriminatory practice in Canada, Bloc Québécois MP, Alain Therrien, introduced a motion on the 30th November saying, “that the House recalls that “Christmas is a tradition celebrated in Quebec and Canada” and invites all to “unite as we approach the Christmas season.” The miracle; the house passed this motion unanimously! Long live Canadian tradition! On behalf of your Executive; Dave Harris, Waverley Reid, Shawn Hewlett, Ron Nokes, Derek Cropper and Bevan Carrique, and in the spirit of Christmas, I wish each and every one of you, all the best and encourage you all to live up to the Blue Knights moto and the spirit of the Christmas season. And a special message from our Chapter Chaplain, Rt. Rev. Bevan Carrique:I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year. May the Lord be with you all and keep you safe until we can again enjoy the riding season with our Brothers and Sisters. Enjoy and be enjoyed. Phil Shrewsbury-Gee
The First Post of 2023
Our Chapter 2023 Our Chapter, like many other Social groups, is still recovering from the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the restriction its posed on everyone. The past four years has seen a significant reduction in our Chapter's meeting, social gatherings and rides. Our Chapters Board he looked at as many feasible ways as possible to bring back in-person club interaction, however, it has proven to be quite a monumental task. What is unfortunate for many, is that as we recover from the past four years of social absence, our members, their family, and their friends continue to get older - some say you're only as old as you feel; but we all are feeling older. With age comes needs and responsibilities that may not blend with a days ride or a Chapter gettogether. Many organizations have increased their Web Presence to facilitate an exchange of ideas, events and information relevant to their objects. Our Chapter has relied on a Web Presence through Blue Knight CLRC but that unfortunately cannot address our needs as well as I think it should. As a Chapter, we cannot directly control, content and we have to rely on volunteers at GLRC to post our information as best they can. Although it has served us well, I don't think it will be able to serve us going forward.Your Board is unanimous in support of our own Web Presence but they realize that I was most likely an unattainable goal. I have decided that I will take on the challenge of a Web Developer and I am giving Ontario VIII their own Domain Name (BKOntarioviii.com) and 3 years of Site Hosting. Let's just say it's my Christmas Present to you. Please remember, that in order for the site to be successful, we need both feedback and content from your, the members. Pictures, stories, merchandise, posting of events and requests for rides etc. are most welcome. Just email your wishes to webmaster@bkontarioviii.com or any member of the Board, or in person, and we will do our best to post it for you. Please understand that many of the features are canned and are limited in certain aspects. Also, there will be a requirement to have each member authorised to use certain parts of the site. Be easy on us though as none of us a paid experter on Web programming. On behalf of Chapter VIII's Board,Thanks for making Chapter VIII the Chapter it is.Phil Shrewsbury
